Meadowcroft Cottage
Originally built in 1880, Meadowcroft Cottage is a truly authentic crofter’s cottage on the Isle of Lewis—retaining its traditional charm on the outside while offering a beautifully modern interior. Carefully renovated and finished to a high standard, the cottage provides comfortable, well-equipped accommodation for a relaxing Hebridean escape.
Inside, the cottage is warm and inviting, with modern comforts thoughtfully blended with original character. A standout feature is the bright and airy Artist Studio, complete with a comfortable sitting area—an ideal space to unwind, read, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings and ever-changing island light.

We stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Helen has set up the cottage so thoughtfully for travellers. Bedrooms are very comfortable with excellent bathroom and kitchen and entertainment facilities. There is nothing you need to bring but your clothes and food. When we arrived Helen had left a beautiful vase of yellow tulips and some treats for us in the kitchen. The position of Meadowcroft Cottage is perfect for getting to many locations on Harris and Lewis. We hope to return on our next trip. Thanks Helen!

Helen is a very welcoming owner and was there when we arrived. We found a delicious selection of local biscuits in the well equipped kitchen. The cottage is very comfortable and well decorated. Nothing is missing to make your stay a pleasant one. It is honestly one of the best places we have stayed in 14 trips to Scotland.
We had such a wonderful week staying at Meadowcroft. The kitchen was fully equipped, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the cottage was in a great location to explore Lewis and Harris. Thanks for a fantastic stay!
